Prof Milan Brandt, RMIT Theme Leader - Additive Manufacturing Processes
Professor Brandt is the Technical Director of RMIT’s Advanced Manufacturing Precinct and the Director of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
He is the leading Australian researcher in the area of macro processing
with lasers and has conducted work in laser cladding, cutting,
drilling, welding, assisted machining and more recently additive
manufacture. This has resulted in technological achievements, patents,
research papers and commercial products, which have been recognized
internationally and nationally in both scientific and industrial
circles. He has commercialized the results of his research and also
actively promoted the benefits of laser technology to Australian
industry through invited presentations, conference papers and industry
Professor Brandt initiated and chaired several international
conferences and workshops and has extensive links with many
international researchers and organisations. He is a Board member and
fellow of the Laser Institute of America and honorary fellow of the
Welding Technology Institute of Australia.
Mr Lance Worrall, University of Adelaide Theme Leader - Industry Transformation
Mr Lance Worrall is Deputy
Chief Executive, Manufacturing and Innovation in the South Australian Department of
Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy.
In 2012 he led
the development of the State's Manufacturing Engagement Strategies for
India and China, as well as initiatives to leverage manufacturing
opportunities from the mining expansion, and placing the State's
investment attraction on a more strategic basis. He has previously held
positions as Chief Executive of the Department of Trade and Economic
Development (2010 - 2011) and the Public Sector Performance Commission
(2008 - 2010).
Lance is presently on secondment to the Australian Workplace Innovation and Social Research Centre (WISeR) at the University of Adelaide.
